Supporting our Donation Partners on Giving Tuesday 2025

It's that time of year again, when we're all bombarded with donation requests from so many organizations who do so much to help so many.

While Giving Tuesday is a clearly worthwhile effort, it’s often hard to decide who and how to help when there is so much need. We also know that many of our neighbors and friends are struggling to provide for their own families right now, so making a financial donation at this time just isn’t an option. Well, we have GOOD NEWS! There are many ways to give on Giving Tuesday.

The Pleasantville Community Garden works throughout the year primarily to support three local non-profits: Hillside Food Outreach, Second Chance Foods and The Pantry, formally the Interfaith Food Bank of Mt Kisco. While our core mission is to help end food insecurity, these organizations are literally on the front lines of the crisis feeding those in need every day. Here are some suggestions that won’t cost a thing.

Volunteer your time! Hillside Food Outreach is always looking for people who can help deliver food to those who cannot get to the food bank due to health issues, access to transportation or simply being elderly and often homebound. It’s a wonderful organization doing great work. Join the team!

Collect Pantry Donations: if our high school students can do it, so can you! Organizations like Second Chance Foods are always looking for basic shelf stable foods like rice, dry beans, broth and old fashioned oats. Connect with your neighbors and check your shelves! Share what you can if you can.

Collect Fresh Direct Bags: The Pantry needs these bags for food distribution every-single-week. If you have them, share them! They can be dropped off at their location in Mt. Kisco on Tuesday and Friday mornings.

So while financial donations are of course always appreciated, please consider other ways you can help make a difference on Giving Tuesday and throughout the season of giving because the need to help those in need will still be there on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday...
