Winter. This one seems to have been particularly harsh, but as Daylight Savings finally draws to a close we can begin to slowly make our way out of hibernation and look forward to the promise of the coming spring.
For many, the early signs of spring are not only longer days but renewing their CSA share with our partners at Roxbury Farm, which is owned and operated by sister farmers Jody Bolluyt and Keri Latiolais and located in Kinderhook , NY. Community Supported Agriculture programs (known as a CSA’s) started in the United States back in 1986 in New England. CSA opportunities really “boomed” during the COVID pandemic lock down as a way for people to access locally grown, nutritious food during a very stressful time in the world.
There is so much to love about all of the thought, hard work and intention that Jody, Keri and their partners put into their authentic, sustainable, regenerative farming practices. Through these partnerships, they strive to create a food system that works for everyone. “Our CSA members have a direct relationship with the farmers and the land. Our customers trust us to farm in a regenerative way and to produce the freshest and highest quality food possible at a fair price.”
Longtime CSA member, and former PCG Board member Helen Meurer says, “I have been a member of the Roxbury Farm CSA for over 25 years and look forward to the wonderful crate of veg I receive every Wednesday for 24 weeks!” She also says that, “Over the years I have been introduced to new veg like water melon radish (so colorful!), dinosaur kale, rainbow chard, kohlrabi and so much more.”

Additionally, all of Roxbury’s CSA distribution sites are connected to a food pantry or food bank. All produce that remains at the end of a pick up is donated in order to provide access to fresh produce to all members of the community. That’s where we come in…whatever is not collected at the pick up location (Pace University in Pleasantville) is gathered and shared by PCG. Just last year we were able to share nearly 1,000 pounds of fresh, organic Roxbury produce (plus poultry, meat and eggs!) with our partners at Neighbors Link in Mt. Kisco.
Roxbury’s organic vegetable 2025 CSA share starts in early June and goes until the week before Thanksgiving for a total of 24 weeks. You can learn more about the options and sign up on their web site. Sign Up Today: CSA SHARES — Roxbury Farm CSA
Roxbury is also able to offer half price CSA shares to SNAP-EBT benefit holders through the CSA SNAP Program from their partners at the Glynwood Center. Applications are available on their website here: SNAP CSA Share
All of us at PCG feel truly fortunate to call the team at Roxbury Farm our friends and partners, working to provide healthy food to the community.
